Jared scott
After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from West Chester University, and working in Corporate America for a few years, Jared chose to return to his roots in the barbershop and pursue his dream. Through his college years, and after, Jared studied under the tutelage of numerous Master Barbers, he set his sights on higher ground and took on the established and prominent men of Washington DC all of which has led to the greatest opportunity of ownership here on Historic Capitol Hill. Jared is driven by the desire to influence the lives of the men in his community, yet never forgetting the tutelage of his first teacher who taught him the tradition of the barbershop, the professionalism behind the chair, and the responsibility of being the first one in and the last one to leave. Jared has always felt that formally educated barbers, both educationally and in the craft were something the industry lacked, and something that would set him apart throughout his career. With a well-established clientele built over the years, Jared, with the help of his family, is set to redefine the barbershop experience for those in and behind the chair.
After 10 years spent in Washington D.C. with life’s many ups and downs Jared has truly learned the professional market of Capitol Hill, where so many factors must converge in order to create a consistent experience for each client because of the differences in culture, ethnicity, as well as their anatomical and physiological makeup. Jared brings with him great attributes to Capitol Hill, his organization and professionalism, along with the experience from working 20 years in the field. His diversity in education, in-depth knowledge of the male clientele, and the understanding of the typical barber mindset, as well as the ability to cut and style all textures of hair create in Jared a vision to help guide the industry into its next phase.
In 2016 Jared was appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser to the District of Columbia Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, and as the youngest member of the board he is being groomed as a true leader in this industry. Principled living is foundational to Mr. Scott, as a proud 2006 initiate of the Noble Klan of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Jared lives by one of the Fraternity’s Motto, “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavour.” His journey does not stop there, in 2016, Jared entered a Countrywide All-Star Mens Hair Competition, challenging not just his skill as a haircutter but also his vision for creating an editorial piece. To compete, each contestant was asked to pull in other areas of the Beauty industry for submission in the contest. Lighting, Photography, Make-up, and Wardrobe were necessary for this level of competition. To his surprise, Jared placed 2nd in the country, spawning his education career. Jared worked as an educator for the International Brand American Crew, traveling across the country teaching other licensed stylists and barbers the principles of haircutting at the advanced level. From hair shows, to platform work, fashion shows, celebrities and even working on the set of the hit Netflix show House of Cards, Jared keeps on achieving. Offered a once in a lifetime opportunity with the Global Wella Brand as a Top Design Team Artist for the Seb Man mens cutting team, Jared accepted, and continues to travel and teach barbers and stylists around the concept of Value over Price.
Jared, feels it is a must to bring better technique and professionalism back into the industry. As great strides are made at HIS Grooming, Jared is on his way to making his own footprint in the history of men’s grooming.

Last but not at all the least, in 2016, Jared became a Father to the most incredible young man, Jude Christian Scott. Jude is a straight A student, a young athlete, and an involved member in his community, school, and church. One thing that remains consistent, is that Jared won’t be missing any of Judes’ extracurricular activities. Achievements in life are great, and they do mean a lot, but one thing Mr. Scott will tell you if you talk with him; “Work 8 hours and go home! At home, for that day, is when your life begins. It’s the people who love us at the corner of our greatest achievements and our ugliest moments, these are the people who deserve the best we have to offer. If you can make those people smile and feel fulfilled when in your presence, that is true Success!” Jared Scot
